The rural areas rarely see tourist.
We are always a novelty. |
Everyone wants to say hello. I get hoarse
saying hello for hours. But it makes their day. |
The area is known as the 'City of Tombs'. |

| |
Thousands of vast, opulent and colorful graves
& temples line the ocean side of this road. |
The road down this island is long and skinny. |
The lagoon and fishing villages are on one
side. |
| |
| |
The ocean is on the other. |
We passed through several villages. |
They make fish sauce which is stored in large
ceramic type jars lined against the walls. |

There are miles of fertile raised vegetable
gardens and fruit orchards. |
Though hot, completely covered as usual. |
| |
| |
There was a huge outflow of boat people
from this area. |

their families left behind. Much of these funds are used to build these
family temples. |
Rice of course is not only a staple, but a huge
export item. It is a tough life for the farmers that work so hard and
get so little. |
